Our Projects

LITTLE HANDS PROGRAM

Summer Program Activity for the Kids Ages 6-12 years old

Blue Ocean’s mission of sowing hope at home and eliminating malnutrition/food insecurity in Philippine islands (starting with Malapascua). This program is designed for the 1st Quarter (summer break, typically March–May; 4–6 weeks, 2 sessions per/week, aiming for 12-15 sessions total). It dovetails seamlessly with the Garden Tower Project (2nd Quarter) by incorporating family tower replanting activities, empowering mothers as co-facilitators, and linking kids' learning to household sustainability—creating a continuum where children apply skills at home with their families' towers.

Introduction to planting and gardening

Hands-on activities to replant garden towers

Teaching responsibility, patience and respect for food

Target Outcome:

Children learn how to plant, nurture, and harvest vegetables - building life skills early.

GARDEN TOWER PROJECT

A project partnered with the USANA Foundation

This program aligns with our mission to eliminate malnutrition and food insecurity in Philippine islands (starting with Malapascua) by empowering mothers and households with sustainable food production tools. It focuses on the 2nd Quarter (typically April–June; 3 months, with weekly installations and follow-ups to build 200 towers annually).

Household-level education on food security

Installation and use of garden towers

Empowering families to grow their own vegetables

Target Outcome:

Mothers become primary stewards of nutrition and sustainability in their homes.
